Project Reflection
This project was not one of the most difficult but one of the most time consuming due to the sheer amount of content required. One of the most challenging parts of this project was the discography as there was a ton of content I had to add. When it came to the code of the discography the difficulty came from the index and the band members page as I had to put a table in that page. The table is one of the more difficult concepts for me to understand in HTML, just based on how they were set up. I could never quite understand. Therefore it was a time consuming process for me to get it correct while also being visually appealing. I focused on putting the content down on the page before getting to the aesthetics of the page. Therefore my website has a lot more content on it, and some places are bare. However the content of the site is where I want it to be.
When it came to the aesthetics of the site, I decided to try something a little more advanced and add a gradient heading that took a while as I wanted to have it in line with the link buttons which was another very time consuming part for me. I wanted to make each page have a similar color scheme to the band themselves. However due to my prolonged time spent on the tables portion I was not able to color the background. The nav buttons and header, however, have an Irish themed color scheme as that is where the band is from. For this assignment we used Replit, a IDE for web and app development. A downside of this application is that the preview window is often smaller than the actual window size. This can lead to format changes that make the site less professional. However, this is also a sign of my inexperience as we as a class have not yet learned scaling to make the site fit the screen size.
Overall, this was one of the more difficult projects from this year. Mainly because of how time consuming it was and how I had to manage my time. I definitely learned a lot more about time and deadline management from this project that will hopefully help me in the future. If I could go back and add/fix anything. I would fix the color scheme to better represent the band other than the Irish flag, probably a mix of reds, whites, and blacks. I would also fix the scaling issues once I learn how to, so the site adjusts its appearance based on the screen size. I had a lot of fun making this project as front end web development is one of my favorite subjects in computer science so far.
